Navigating the Challenges of Solo Development
I wanted to give you all a quick update on my progress with our game development journey.
I have been diving into Godot, and I have to say, it is a lot more lightweight compared to Unreal. I have managed to create the basic camera movement and implemented basic worker movements and a resource for gathering.
I made the decision to use a simpler unit movement system instead of diving into Navigation2D and Grid Maps. It just seemed like a lot of work, and I am keen to get something out as fast as possible to make up for lost time.
Developing the game solo has been quite the challenge. There are so many factors to consider, especially for an RTS game like unit movement, selection, resource gathering, UI, combat, buildings, and story.
It is a lot to wrap my head around, and I'll admit, I am feeling a little overwhelmed.
But hey, I am determined to tackle each challenge one step at a time and bring this project to life.
